Problem

PRCCDC (Pacific Rim Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition) simulates real cybersecurity incidents where defenders must protect systems against live attackers.

Impact

Coordinated incident response while prioritizing critical service availability.

Environment & Tools

Participated in defending heterogeneous infrastructure including Windows Server, Linux systems, DNS servers, and web applications.

Key Challenges

  • •Defending multiple systems simultaneously while maintaining service availability
  • •Identifying and stopping attackers without system downtime
  • •Making security decisions under time pressure with limited information

Technical Decisions

  • →Prioritized restoration of critical services
  • →Reassigned teammates as pressure shifted across systems
  • →Balanced containment, investigation, and recovery

Outcome

Hands-on experience in live defense and incident coordination, with lessons in monitoring, triage, containment, and recovery.
